Configuration Dance Theatre & School of Ballet Policies and Procedures
All classes begin in September and end in June. Student enrollment is ongoing throughout the year, which means students may enroll at any time provided there is space available in the class. Tuition is based on a ten-month period.
Tuition Payment Options:
Option 1) 10 Monthly Installments – Monthly installments will be deducted automatically from a designated bank account with Studio Auto-pay system. A $20 late fee will be applied to all returned transactions. After two returned transactions, another payment method will be required.
Option 2) Biannual Payments – First payment due in September at sign up, and second payment due on or before February 1 (late fee 10%).
Option 3) Annual Payment – One annual payment made in full in September (includes a 10% discount).
Fees:
An annual $50 registration fee is due at registration (1st sibling $35, additional siblings free). An end-of-the-year performance fee of $75 is due the first week in November for students in Pre-ballet and up. Fee covers costumes, alterations, headpieces, props, theater rental and all other costs related to the recital. An additional $25 will be charged for students in more than one dance number (per class, not to exceed $100). Performance fees will not be refunded after January 15, even if a student withdraws from the school.
Withdrawal and Refunds:
There is a two-month minimum for all lessons. A written one-month notice is required to discontinue any class(s). No refunds will be given for withdrawals after April 1. CSB reserves the right to terminate lessons to any student without notice. In such a case a refund for unused lessons will be given.
Extreme weather or unexpected interruption of classes:
If the school must cancel classes due to extreme weather or other extenuating circumstances beyond our control, notification will be given as soon as possible. In the event of severe weather, closings will be posted on our website as well as WGRZ – Channel 2 News. Students may have the opportunity to make up the classes with prior approval by Directors. No refunds for lessons missed due to these reasons will be given.
Substitutions:
The school reserves the right to provide a substitute teacher if the regularly scheduled teacher is ill or otherwise unable to teach classes. If a teacher is ill and the school cannot arrange a substitute, any missed classes can be made up.
Dance Dress Code:
Required dancewear and dance shoes must be worn to all classes. Failure to wear required dancewear to class could result in students asked to sit out of class. Repeated failure to wear required dancewear could result in termination of lessons. Students are not permitted to wear jeans or shoes worn on the street or outdoors, to any dance class. For safety reasons dancers are not permitted to wear jewelry. Long hair must be tied back and placed neatly in a bun. Short hair must be put back with a head band. All students are required to dress appropriately in dance attire.
Storybook Dance – Leotard with tights or white ankle socks and ballet slippers. Boys can wear shorts and a tee shirt with socks.
Pre-ballet and Pre-ballet II – Pink leotard with ballet pink tights and ballet slippers.
Ballet I and IA – White cap sleeve leotard, ballet pink tights and slippers.
Ballet II through Ballet IV – Black cap sleeve leotard, ballet pink tights and slippers / Skirts can be worn for pointe class.
Ballet V through Advanced Level – Black camisole leotard, ballet pink tights and slippers.
Boys – Black shorts or tights, white t-shirt, white ballet slippers with white socks.
Jazz & Tap – The above attire with tan jazz shoes/ black tap shoes.
Character Dance and Musical Theater – 1.5 inch heel black character shoes.
Missed Classes / Private Lessons:
Make-up lessons will be given at the discretion of the directors for missed classes unless absence is due to illness. Notice should be given to the studio office and make-up classes and/or refunds for illness related absence may require a doctor’s note. No refunds will be given for missed lessons due to conflicts with other outside activities, or absences during breaks that differ from our studio’s scheduled breaks.
Dance Class Attendance & Lateness:
The school reserves the right to have students who come late to class sit out of the class. Repeated lateness may result in termination of lessons. A minimum attendance level will be required. If student misses more than 4 classes without written notices, the school reserves the right to terminate lessons. Students missing more than 4 classes after January may not be allowed to participate in the year-end performance.
Parent’s responsibility to be aware of dates and events:
It is the responsibility of the parent or adult student to be aware of all school activities, such as rehearsals, recitals, and make-up classes and dates the school is opened or closed. The parents will give the school their email address to email all such notices home. The school will post all such notices as well as emailing such notices home. It is a parent’s responsibility to regularly check their email or the postings to make sure they are informed. It is the responsibility of the parents or the adult students of any email address change, address or telephone number change.
Care of Students:
The school is not responsible for providing before or after class care of students. Parents with students under the age of 5 should remain in the school during classes. Students are not to be left at the school for excessive time before or after class.
Injuries:
Parents, legal guardians of minor students and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on school property resulting from normal dance activity or any other activity conducted by the students before, during or after class time.
Photo Release:
By signing this agreement, the school is hereby granted to take photographs or video of the students to use in brochures, website and promotional materials for the school. At no time will any student’s name be associated with the pictures in any materials unless specific permission is granted by a parent or legal guardian of the student.
